Love the daily notifications
I've enjoyed the ease with the service and plan. I am moving and will for a time have two locations so forced to look at alternatives due to policy restrictions that I can't be two places at once. I can't be caught not having AC in Texas during Summer while setting up the new and moving out of the old. Who came up with that policy. Also noticed the rates have changed ... Guess I will be risking another change but I did love how I always knew my balance and if something was wrong due to the charges (roommate) ... Great way to keep track and know when to pull back and shut things off! Not to mention FACEBOOK and the things I learned along the way!

Simplicity is Key
Setting up a new service is extremely easy. All fields were clear to read and easy to understand. They had enough detail to keep me from having questions, and little enough detail to keep me from being lost. I highly recommend this company to any one who is a first timer in living on your own. Our family has had a horrible past 2 years, we lost our home in the winter storm moved back in October only to get diagnosed with cancer in November. My wife is our only income and no one would help her or work with her. I think this will be a great fit for our family.

No problem with service but I've never understood the billing or what the actual coat per kwr is. On the average 4 kwh's costs me just over $3.00. This seems very high

Happy customer
I've been a happy customer for several years now. Was kind of disappointed to find out price went up. Has went up twice since I've been with them. And have been a few times they had problems with meters and completely overcharged due to weather circumstances. Customer service was not able to explain, help or correct the situation. But I can't really see myself leaving this company over these issues. Nothing in life is perfect! Lol. Would definitely and have recommended to several friends who are satisfied as well. My only remaining concern is that as of June 18th 2018 I was told payments less than twenty dollars will not be accepted. I really hope this is not the beginning of the end of their easy, convenient service. Time will tell.

The weather is going to be the main factor on your usage as it will cause it to fluctuate from time to time, If ever in doubt you could always verify these reads using www.smartmetertexas.com to verify all usage being report is actual & will update every 15 minutes to show you what you're consuming in the home. Yes our minimum payment did increase to $20 but if you would like to pay less than the minimum required you could go to any money gram location and pay there. 2.0 upgrade sucks!
I been with payless for about 4 years now and until now I'm not happy with the service at all. With the new 2.0 upgrade where if you have over $35 in the account they give you a "discount " and if you don't keep the account above $35 you get charged double . I don't see this fair some of us are very thight in money and cannot afford to keep putting money to keep it over $35. I used to love payless but i think its time to change companies. Cannot afford to keep paying $5-6 a day!

Service is ok
I needed a credit reference for an important application. Payless Power customer service would only give me reference from the time you have had this online site. I was a customer for a year prior but he wouldn't give that info for my application. Longevity was my whole point of requesting credit reference. It hurt me in long run to not get that information.
We do apologize for the inconvenience. We did launch a new system therefore we could only pull up account history from the time the system transition till current day. We will be happy to assist you on a proof of service if that will help because unfortunately we don't offer letter of credits.

No Terms of Services, rates can change
When a rate has changed you will only be notified via a txt message only. Pay as you go is currently 12.2 per kWh, if u keep a balance above 35$ it's 8.7, so there advertised 10.9 does not exist anymore(summertime excuse raise in rates). Also if you do not use above 17 kWh they can charge you a extra .50 per day. On there web page you cannot review your monthly kWh usage for comparison's, you can only pay your bill. One good thing I found out late was you can pay from your bank account without being charged 3$ that ace rips you off with, probably could have saved $100 bucks if I'd known that sooner a year ago.

So Far It's Been Good
So far I like it. I started up on Monday 10-20-14. I really like bc I have bad credit and needed to have services at emergency and last minute. I have looked at Reviews from several different electricity companies. Most have the same type of complaints. Mostly all reviews in several are bad. What I liked about this is the!Supervisor canback up what went wrong and why things escalated to the point they did and how they do try to!resolve the issue if possible. I had a good experience getting the info I needed when I first called. It took me a week to make up my mind wether I wanted to switch or not I did. My first teo!days have came out to $2.91so I loved that. Of course there is a $10 charge to connect with AEP. I did call several times to get more info to be sure I had everything straighten out and questions answered. They were kind and patient with me on all this and answered my questions that I had. So it was great. The only one thing I will say is that when I went online to check my daily usage and balance. I discovered that I could've put $75 or more on my acct so they can give me $100 worth of service over a period of time. I put $50 to start off with just!to see if I was going to like it. I wish they would've told me that and I would've started my account with more $ in it. I also love that they extend you by bmp possibly 2 days if needed. Which is nice bc not others will do that for you. All in all. I so!far am happy with it. But fairly new into it. I think its goosd as long as you keep your balance off of negative and don't get a disconnection bc that's where I think a lot of the problems are started and misunderstanding are. Thank all the reps that were patient with me. And I hope I will stay with you all and it continues to be a good experience like it so far has been. I hope I continue to keep my rates low and made agood choice by!switching. Thanks.

DEPOSIT REFUND
PAYLESS POWER HAS TO BE THE MOST UNORGANIZED COMPANY IN THE TEXAS AREA. I USED THEIR SERVICE SINCE AUG 2011 UNTIL SEPT 2014. I HAVE BEEN CALLING, AS THEY TELL ME TO DO SO, EVERY FEW DAYS TO CHECK ON MY DEPOSIT REFUND. THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON IN THE ENTIRE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER THAT CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER AS TO WHEN I WILL RECEIVE NOR HOW MUCH MY DEPOSIT WILL BE. TODAY IS 9/29/14. THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF 7 - 10 DAY POLICY, AS THEY REQUIRE OF THEIR "VALUED" CUSTOMERS TO GET THEIR STUFF TOGETHER AND GIVE THE SO CALLED "VALUED" CUSTOMERS AN ANSWER. THE ANSWER WAS CALL BACK ON FRIDAY, 10/3/14. I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

Before you get Payless read this
Let me start by saying that when I first switched to Payless Power, I was very impressed. The rates were reasonable with no hidden fees. I loved how I got a text message every morning and honestly this company has truly educated me on how to save on my electricity usage. Then things went weird. I figured out near beginning of summer that I could extend my account payment out by a week. This was awesome. It truly helped me. I paid a week behind every week, like clockwork. How awesome is that! However any incentives I started out with for paying a larger payment were gone. It use to be if you paid $150, $100 or $75 you'd get lower tiered rates per KWH. Gone. ok..well, they got to make money too. That was strike one, incentives gone. Then there was the small fee charged if paying less than $40 on your account. Sure, let's charge the people who obviously are scrimping pennies to pay for electricity, but it didn't effect me so much...strike two, unnecessary fees. At least with this fee I was SLIGHTLY warned ahead of time...would have been nicer for a heads up sooner. Now they have taken away my precious extension. Instead of 7 days, I now only have 4, which is counting the day of payment due. If I want to extend it 7 days I have to pay a fee. This one wasn't given to me as a warning, in fact the first time I saw it I didn't even know what it was. The second time the customer service agent did tell me prior to awarding me the extension, but not the first time, That's a hidden fee. I still can't understand why they don't text customers about changes to fees etc. Why do we have to find out last minute or in some cases after the fact? Strike 3, extension gone...strike 4, hidden fees....All in all I must say I actually did like this company. But I'm thinking its not the same company I signed up with. Maybe it is time for me to switch. If you never need an extension and want to prepay...this company is for you. If you pinch pennies and its hard to make ends meet...I'd shop around and get full details first.

No bargain
They neglected to mention they have a $2.99 cent per day minimum, so you're guaranteed a $90/mth bill even if you're just running a fridge and nothing else. I've had monthly bills where my average cost was 48 cents per kw. Not a good value when they advertise 16 cents/kw if you their minimum kw
Double of what other power companies charge- avoid this one at all costs!
I am a very cheap person when it comes to electricity- and it's all Payless Power's fault.Unplugging appliances as soon as they're not in use- turning lights off as soon as I leave the room, leaving them off when I'm in my bedroom, covering up windows and doors- you name it I've done it all in order to keep my electric bill low. And by "low" with Payless Power, I mean shelling out $40 every other week or even weekly.It gave me anxiety, checking my balance and knowing I'm getting low. I switched, and I expected the new power company to be worse since I left lights on, had the a/c on for a handful of days...but it was only $50 for the whole month! I am in absolute shock, Payless Power is an absolute scam. Under no circumstances should you EVER switch to Payless Power. You've been warned.

I've had this company for about 5 months now. They charge more than what a normal plan would. I had Tara Energy before this and I was paying $100 or less a month. With Payless Power I'm paying damn near over $150 a month. And they have a switch hold on my meter?! This company is crooked. I hate it.

A quick review of your historical usage shows that the address where you live consumes a lower than average amount of power in the spring and fall but a much higher amount in the summer. You are experiencing this now. Please note that Payless Power has not raised your rates however your consumption from April through July has drastically spiked from 2019 to 2020. Worse power company ever
I thought they had reasonable rates when I started service with them.After the first months the rates started going up till I was paying 20 dollars a day for two people.They will cut you off quickly to get an additional 25 dollars.I think we were better off before deregulation.This company is bait and switch.If you need electricity dont get with this company.
We are terribly sorry you have had a poor experience with our company and want to know more, so that we may improve. We also understand the frustration that the cost of electricity rises in the summer or sometimes the winter here in Texas because energy consumption increases substantially with the temperature changes outside. The key driver of higher energy cost is because the air conditioning and heating systems work much harder when it is hot or cold outside. Just like a refrigerator, the HVAC system in a home turns on based on the desired temperature set on the thermostat and these systems do so whether someone is home or not. Tried their service on a temporary sublet. Immediately noticed the smart methods of stealing your available credit. Rates per kilowatt are as high as $2.85 cents. That's per 1 kilowatt. Just another immoral American thief.

Needed service temporarily so figured prepaid was the way to go. I paid $40 a week although I was rarely home. Great idea but too expensive.

At first, thought Payless would be great. Was receiving daily texts of $$ charged and KWH charged.New website rollout, since daily texts no longer include $$ spent, just total kwh and your balance remaining.Trying to camouflage what you are actually being charged that day, without customer's calculation.Continually told, great new stuff on website.... available soon. Told today "it was decided" by Payless Power to not provide customers with daily $$ charged, as this will soon be available on website. The only thing available on new site other than ways to pay/fund your account, is monthly billing statement. You cannot lookup any billing/usage history in real time, need to review your texts or wait til monthly statement in mail, or online. Hell, you cannot even look up what your rate or average is. Being charged daily and getting hit with 558kw charge, with no idea what your rate is means you cannot calculate what came out of our account without seeking out prior day's "balance remaining" and deducting manually. Great way to hide rates & $$$ under guise of customer improvement. It has been decided by me to shop elsewherefor power. Quoted rate 8.6 continually charged 11.6 /kwh Hard to detect until your monthly bill, or if you gather your texts & calculator

Just Got This And Already Over it.
I just signed up for this bc I needed service ASAP. I was just charged over $7 on my first day. That is crazy I live in a 600 Sq Ft apartment alone. I'm adamant on not using lights when the sun is out and keep my AC at 68 degrees. They also advertised $100 credit to new customers, which I did not receive. I wish I had done more research before signing up. I will be switching asap.

Was Great! Until they were acquired by another company...
We decided to go with prepaid power because we (me & my roomate) don't have enough money to pay the big bills we used to get with TXU energy. All year long 2017- the rates were great. Electricity was cheap, until recently after Hurricane Harvey.... they updated their payment system & now their service is ridiculous. They "OFFER A DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN" - they want you to owe them money, doesnt make sense. It does make sense though for the company to put you in their pocket like that, they are raising rates and diminsh your account balance so fast that you go negative and then they allow you to run up negative $100+ and start texting you to get on their "DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN". What they've done may not be unethical but it is most definitely irritating, a business does have the right to change its service prices however it is no longer beneficial to use them as a electricity provider. Without getting angry and really speaking my mind, I am writing this review to let everyone know they are not worth trying and will eat your money so fast that it doesnt even make sense. I have three bedroom house and every week, were having to put money on the account. I conserve energy and still lose it all. This review was written by me, allen. This was the most expensive electric company I found in Texas. Rates are too high. I was paying about 100 a month. I had to find another provider asap. I switched and I am very happy now.

Too Pricy
Went with payless power when i moved be cause i was needing lights on asap first couple days were $2.02, and max $4 than all of a sudden got hit with a $9 charge for one day of power. me and my boyfriend are hardly home and haven't used the washer dryer dishwasher etc i red the reviews before i got payless power and i should have listened. $9 a day for a couple is crazy i used to live in a 2 story house with 4 people and we averaged about $5 to $6 a day and that was in the summer. Will be switching companies asap

I have been paying about $30 a week for the past 2 months which i understand because we do use about 40-50kw a day my husbands check got shorted $300 last week so my account went negative $0.37 i went and put $3 on it just to make sure it didn't get disconnected since my dad was calling to put some money on it in 30 minuets he called and someone told him my account was negative $45!!! and the lowest amount they could except was $30 my electric DID NOT GET CUT OFF YET..... and my account was NOT negative $45 i checked online it said negative $0.37 and the texts i get said the same thing!! i also called myself after he told me and the lady i talked to said it wasn't negative $45 it was negative $0.37 and then a payment of $3.00 posted bringing my balance to $2.63 and then a payment(that my dad made) of $30 posted she said she reviewed my account and the notes from the call didn't show they informed him to pay $30 so shes doing a call review my dad is VERY upset with me he was only going to put $10 seeing how my husband gets paid Friday and its Wednesday...

Meter Reads
I have called a couple of times with regards to what I know are inaccurate meter charges. I had questions before the calls. However they charged me for usage of five dollars or more on days when I was either not there at all...or there with lights off and the were thermostat on 77...Then when you finally do call you get placed on hold for an eternity. Then you are told "oh the system is running slow and we can't download your info,and/or a supervisor will call you back which has yet to happen. I will call again and if I get no response take my business elsewhere. It's clearly not valued here

Payless power stole from my account. Service was disconnected on Jan 11 2022. I called to verify that my account would be disconnected, auto pay stopped, and my balance refunded. This was confirmed by the customer service representative. Not only was my account drafted after I was told it would not be, Im charged an early termination fee that isnt mentioned anywhere in the faq section, account info, or website. This information should be easy to find. They are intentionally withholding billing information. This is theft. Every social media platform will have this written, detailed review of Payless power. As the automated service says, calls may be recorded for training purposes, I record phone conversations to ensure scam businesses like this one are held accountable. I am still going to have to call to reiterate what I have just said and to also have my bank information promptly and completely removed since my account is still active after it was requested by me to be closed.

I have been with this company for a few years and loved them until about a month ago. I don't know what happened but service is awful now. They don't do what the say, block me from changing companies, and customer service is so rude.

Sudden turn for the worse
Having a pre-paid plan, we used to enjoy a discount by maintaining a minimum balance. However, starting January 2021, the discount disappeared, and the value proposition for a pre-paid plan vanished. Additionally, a minimum daily charge of $2.67 is added (I am aware of no other major electric company that implements this immoral practice). This minimum daily charge means that you will be paying a minimum of $80 per month even if you unplug everything and go away on vacation!You'll probably see a tone-deaf response saying something to the effect of that the changes are consistent with the TOS, which is available on their website.Indeed, Payless Power suddenly forgot how to treat their customers right.

Emotional Distress
The manager and employees are liars and is witholden my hand written check that the bank stateed it doesn't accept. Its been over 12 days of them holding my check and I still await for a refund for being dissatisfied with ignorant communicated agents and had to switch power service because I was unhappy with thier miserable communication as a paying customer. I was told that my registered email check was not acceptable but I could mail it in but then when I did send it certified mail, it was denied after recieving an email I could mail it. I was given an off the record cell phone number of a manger to speak with about the matter because the call wasn't being recorded. I totally feel discriminated against and this company has caused me emotional distress which I send out invoices for!!! With prejudice

RIP OFF COMPANY
They really do NOT deserve 1 star. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Be expected to pay at least $30 for 6 days of 4-5 kilowatt usage or so they supposed that amount based on estimates...I'll say it again...ESTIMATES and actual. They claim Centerpoint sends them the actual metered amount (whenever) and that they might sometimes "undercharge" customers based on their "estimated" daily calculations. Hear me out new customers, as you maintain this company you'll see that over time they'll start ripping you off. I'm hardly ever home and when I am I only use a desk lamp to study for a few hours. Even unplug most appliances (except for fridge) to conserve energy. BUT they increase the price amount and inflate (lie) the usage. I'm switching in a few days.

False Advertisement
This company is deceiving and manipulative. They advertise are rate of 12.1 cent with no additional fees but youll never receive the rate of 12.1 cent. Ive spoken to a number of customer service agents who like to talk to you like youre stupid until you pull out a calculator and show them the numbers dont add up. Theyll place you on a long hold because they dont understand why. During this time theyre trying to come up with an excuse for the false advertisement. They try to say theres an additional TDU delivery charge but their sales agents will tell you all of the charges and fees are bundled into that 12.1 cent. Ive even called and pretend like I was a new customer, asked if there was an additional TDU charge and they will tell you no. My balance has always been over $35 yet I never receive the rate they advertise. If that isnt bad enough if your balance goes under $35 they will really start taking advantage of you. Charge as much as .20 per kWH. If you try to keep you electricity consumption down because of their high rates, they will charge you an additional $1 on top of that rate. This is completely deceiving and false advertisement. If youre ready this youve most likely been scammed by them already and youre not alone. Their sales agents and customer service representatives are trained liars.

Deceptive Practices
Garbage. I signed up for a plan that states "$50 credit after 30 days of usage." However, the fine print states "180 must be maintained, or PaylessPower can reverse the credit." Why is this garbage? Because the TOS that displays during the online sign up differs from the TOS that I was sent, and the TOS that displays when I login to my account and look under "plan documents." This 180 day requirement is nowhere to be found. Is the company technically correct? Sure. But this is extremely deceptive. Why should I not assume that the TOS shown at sign up is not the same as the TOS that is provided with the plan? Didn't think I would have to read through two different TOS sheets to know what I was signing up for. Shady and deceitful.

VERY EXPENSIVE!!! The "Rate" is NOT the Rate!!!
These people promise you a certain rate but overcharge you. The scam is to charge you far more than they advertise then "possibly" rebate you some money if you scream loud enough and meet a bunch of conditions. If you contact the company about this they act like you are just an idiot that can't do simple math to figure what they are REALLY charging you. Very deceptive marketing. Any company that has to market like this to get customers should tell you something about their dishonesty. I have had to file a complaint with the Utilities Commission. The service was so bad, I was only with the company for a few days before I switched. On a positive note, if you really like being lied to and getting ripped off, then this is the company for you!

Changes made recently, charging daily when I use no electric!!
I use to love Payless, but totally reconsidering. I get daily texts giving me my usages, thing is it's costing me over $1.50 to $2.98 or day when I haven't been using electric. My building is a storage building. I go there maybe 2 times a month, I turn on one light bulb. For 30 minutes max. But get nearly $3 charge every day. Says I use 1.08 to 2.53 kwh , how electric is not used. I'm getting ripped off. Think I'm going to change.

Do NOT use if needing elec. Same day
I made an initial payment Sat afternoon for my service to start.. told it would take 4-6 hrs. Waited 6 hrs.. Nothing. Next day.. Nothing. Now here it js Monday morning & I am still without electricity. It is currently 88 in my apartment & the sun hasn't even risen yet. Not to mention i have a 6 month old whose bottles I've been taking to my office & Valero to microwave. Definitely would not recommend. Went with thia provider bc of "same day activation" but that is a lie. I would have at least appreciated honesty but to lie is so very unprofessional. Will be calling once they open back up to make complaint.

Not What They Advertise, AT ALL!
To make a long story short, they charged me double the amount I expected to pay. I only used about 800kw for the first month and since I never kept my balance at $35 or higher they feel its okay to charge for that. Isnt that absolutely ridiculous?! Anyway, it might be okay with other customers but to me it was unnecessary to keep putting money into my account to keep it at $35 or more in order to supposedly pay 20% less than their competitors. I highly doubt it.

As I am trying to pay my bill, your crappy new system cant not "find" my account with the account number I provide that you text me with everyday. Also can not find my account with my phone number, that I used to set up the account. I need to pay to avoid disconnect but NO OFFICE IS OPEN until tomorrow? Avoid this company is possible! Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I've never had a representative make me feel so low about not being about to pay a $25 reconnection fee for my services. VANESSA was rude and very disrespectful, after speaking with her I will be moving my services to another company that doesn't treat that customers like trash.

Not a happy customer!
I've been a customer now for almost a year. We've had issues several times. I paid it a couple of months ago before they shut it off and they disconnected it and charged the $25 reconnect fee. I called and complained and was told there was nothing they could do. This month they granted an extension until 5 pm. At 5:10 a $25 reconnect was charged even though it was not disconnected. I will be switching and would not recommend them to anyone. I have never had so many issues from an electric company in my life!

Rip Off
Renter moved and didn't pay. They put a Switch Hold on my property and so far have refused to remove it even after they have been notified the property owner is now in control of the property. They have called me and sent me emails wanting me to sign up for electric power with them and I have refused. A complaint to the BBB will be made next week.

VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER
I was satisfied when I called and needed my electricity turned on immeadiately and when they said they could do it today I was beyond happy, the only problem is I feel like I was scammed by this company because I paid for electricity at 2:29pm the guy said an HR and it would be on two hours later I call and the lady says it may take up to one to Six hours depending on oncore electric well it's now 6:15 and I called to get an update and everyone is closed including oncor so someone keeps to tell me if my electricity is going to be on or not I have a 7 yr old daughter and my house was supposed to be ready TODAY now thanks to the electric company I'm sleeping in my car. I pray by God's grace the lights come on tonight because if not when I call Monday I'm cancelling and telling everyone what scam artists you are!!

MONEY HUNGRY
I have been on and off with this company for about 3 years now. The only reason i keep going back to them is it it so cheap to start up i think like 25.00 dollars. But it seems like i put money on the light every week. I have a 2 bedroom apt, not very big at all, but yet i spend anywhere from $6.00-$8.00 A DAY. That is ridiculous, i added up what i spend a month and it is around 300.00 350.00 a month, that is so crazy. Time to switch providers......
I have used this prepaid electric provider for more than a year and up until today they were okay, but now I saw how they really do business and I disagree. Time to change providers!!! I received a text this morning, like I do every morning, only this time it said my account was -1.53 and I should make a payment to avoid disconnection. Okay, I was at work and had to wait til I was able to take a lunch before I could make a payment. I was able to take my lunch at 230 pm which is when I made my payment, but apparently they had already shut my service off. So now half of my payment has to go to an unnecessary reconnect fee. I completely disagree with not giving people (especially those of us stuck at work) at least until close of business to bring their account current. That to me is a complete rip off.

We do understand people are busy so we offered an account protection till 5 pm to allow customers to have time on making a payment to avoid disconnections from occurring, But will need to call in to request this before a certain time as disconnection go out in waves & could occur every 30 minutes.

Ripoffs
Was okay to start. Got daily reports on how manu KWH's we used, that was good. Then they started 'Guess-timating" and no more daily reports to our cell phone. Next thing we know, no matter how much stuff we turn off, no matter how warm we run the A/C, turn off lights, turn off comps and t.v.'s, same thing everyday. Next thing we know, up to 600 dollars a month in electricity, but getting calls weekly that we are about to be shut off.Ask what happened to our daily KWH reports, they put a switch hold on us, even though we were paid well in advance (They do not want to ever lety you off the hook...they put a switch hold on you for pre-paid electricity? This HAS to be illegal!)A nightmare to get rid of them and get with another company. NEVER sign up with these absolute, unscrupulous criminals. They make the criminals at ComCast look like a reputable company!!!

Horrible customer service screwed me out of my money
This company is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been charged daily for my electricity, but all of a sudden 31$ was taken from my account saying my meter wasn't working, and those were estimates. First of all I was told there are no estimates with this company. Second nobody is at the house and lights stay off and ac at 78 how could my bill be more than 4-8$ a day. Third the girl I spoke with was rude spoke over me would not let me get a word in, and kept talking about crap I wasn't inquiring about. I'm highly upset and am considering switching companies. This is not worth the trouble and hassle to deal with. I just want my account fixed and my money back on my account. I'm getting overcharged and screwed by these bastards.
We understand that customers do not like estimates. We actually will never estimate your bill unless there is a delay in receiving the daily meter read. If this happens we will perform a true up the following day to make sure that your usage and payments are accurate. We will then resume using actual meter reads just like we do on a daily basis.

Biggest ripoff ever!!!!!!
Seems like a good idea at first and that u will save money but in reality u will be facing power shutoffs weekly with massive disconnect & reconnect fees. We ended up paying weekly what we used to pay monthly. Trying to dump them for another company is a nightmare as well. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this money pit that preys on the poor.

Sucks don't get it
I thought this would be good for me since I live alone, I'm BARELY at home, they talk to you like you are making the right decision by switching to them & blah blah, well ive been with them for maybe 3 weeks now & have spent $150 on PREPAID lights wth when I had regular lights I was just paying 100 I'm turning off service TODAY, I'm fed up, I pay 40 dollars on lights they send a txt saying your balance is 25 critically low that was YESTERDAY, today I'm at $4.00. Huge rip off!
I don't even know where to begin. Being a young person that I am, not having enough money to put down a hefty deposit with other electric company's I stupidly fell for pay less power. Me and my girlfriend are not home most of the time on weekdays because we both work. After we get off work we grab something to eat (NOT COOK) watch tv for maybe 3 house on a ENERGY STAR LCD tv and go to bed. And on the weekends we are usually out of the house enjoying our days off together. We have been doing laundry at my moms house and we cook maybe 3 times our of the week. Yes there was a cold front in our area and yes I did turn on the heater to 70.On our first few bills they charged us $5.95-7.00. I though huh that's weird I should slow down my energy consumption. And that when things got weird, I understand there was a cold front in the area, I was being charged $10-12 regularly in one day! I was paying over $50 a week in a one bedroom apartment, not doing laundry, barley cooking and barley even home. I had enough with the outrageous charges, for 3 days I decided to unplug everything and not turn on the heater at all. And i was being charged even more! I was angry and confused I called and told them the situation. all the rep told me was that yes my meter readings are odd, he told me to try not turning my heater on. I told him that's what I've been doing for three days I've unplugged everything. All he told me is that I should have my meter checked. One time my daily usage was 99khk in one day. Do you even know how ridiculous that sounds? Not even a two story 4 bedroom house uses that in one day. I had enough, I switched to Direct energy I've been with them for 2 weeks and only used $25 worth of credit IN TWO WEEKS vs $50 a week with payless. On a average work day (me and my gf at work, watching t'v for 3 hours, bed) I spend about $0.90-$2.00 a day. One day a really bad cold front came it was 30F outside our heaters were set on 74, we were home all day watching tv, baked chicken wings and even a cake did SIX loads of laundry and our daily usage for that was was only $4.50. Payless power will rip you off, they provide false meter readings, they will charge you whatever they feel like. If you're thinking of a not deposit, no credit check, prepaid electric plan go with direct energy instead.

Just horrible on day 1!
I signed up for payless power today was told that if I made my payment by 3:45 I would get my services cut on for the same day. They told me submitted my order at 3:24, by 5 still no power so I called oncor they stated they had to record of a turn on at my address and stated the maximum amount of time it takes to get an order is 2 hours after submitted. I spoke to 3 representatives and a supervisor all guaranteeing my electricity would be on and it was submitted. I spoke to oncor up until they closed and they never got my turn on request. I have just purchaed groceries now they are all wasted because of them.

Complete scam
My complete experience w/ Payless. Day one I turned the service on. 25 dollars w/ 25 dollar gift. 50 dollars how nice. Dat 2 revived txt 4.18 used. I was later told this was the amount paid a year before on that date b/c I was charged an extra 5 dollars on a later date since they couldn't get a reading for that day. Day 3 got a txt I used 17.23. I told my friend get bro tha bill was 20 dollars yesterday wtf. He said ok I will make sure to turn EVERYTHING off. Day 4 got a txt saying balance critically low 3.17 remaining 25.42 used. This is the day after we tired everything off. Do I immediately call asking why my bill is so hi never has it been over 5 a day much less 2 or 3. I was told it is "winter" that is "probably" why. I stated are you payin 20 a day for you energy the response was no of course. I submitted a meeter check. I was told this will come at the end of the month. I added another 50 so I wouldn't go negative and only 50 b/c there is a fee if you add less then 40. I then revived a txt sayin my account was "granted protection" thru 12/20/13. It is currently the the 12th of dec. 8 days prior to the 20th. Day 5 I revive a charge of 12.80. Day 6. Today. Critically low 24.90 left in account. Usage was 15.47. Now tell me why it has been less then a week and 100 dollars will b gone by the end of today. Who else can afford a 400 dollar energy bill? Y'all are OUT OF LINE. I've spoken with reps I've asked for the corporate number I was givin an adress to mail too. I asked for a supervisor I was told one will call me back. I'm still waiting. I told the rep since I've already called and nothing had been done. I'm not going to wait till the end of the month payin these prices just to see if the meeter is correct. I was told if I switch I will b charged 25. Well y'all can have y'all 25 back!! I told the rep go ahead and refund ALL the money in my account BACK onto my card y'all can HAVE that 25 back because I will SAVE MORE then 25 within 3 DAYS if I switch my service!!! I'm still waiting on the call back y'all need to be reported to some kind of agency and I am going to find out wich agency to contact. I WANT MY M***ER F***ING MONEY BACK!

Don't Do It--They Inflate Their Numbers!
I signed up with Payless Power just to get my electric on quickly in rent house. They were quick with that, but the billing is SO INFLATED. I called customer service after three days because my bill was running quadruple what it should be (I wasn't even moved in yet.) The customer service agent (Marissa) had no skills and gave me canned responses. I explained the situation again and she told me that Oncor showed last year it was running 24 kwh, but they were charging me 84+ kwh! She said it would start evening out as they got true readings from Oncor. (So right there she admitted it was overestimated!) I asked about a credit for the over-inflation. She said I would get that. Well that hasn't happened either. Rather, my daily readings are all over the place and I am remaining pretty steady in electric usage (appliances still not moved to house yet.) Today, I get a text that I used 139 kwh yesterday!!!! Really????? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE....sign up with a REAL electric company. That's what I'm going to do. I found myself in a situation where I had very little time to pay and the process was very fast and easy and they made it possible for me to make the payment on time
No bargain
They neglected to mention they have a $2.99 cent per day minimum, so you're guaranteed a $90/mth bill even if you're just running a fridge and nothing else. I've had monthly bills where my average cost was 48 cents per kw. Not a good value when they advertise 16 cents/kw if you their minimum kw

Payless power stole from my account. Service was disconnected on Jan 11 2022. I called to verify that my account would be disconnected, auto pay stopped, and my balance refunded. This was confirmed by the customer service representative. Not only was my account drafted after I was told it would not be, Im charged an early termination fee that isnt mentioned anywhere in the faq section, account info, or website. This information should be easy to find. They are intentionally withholding billing information. This is theft. Every social media platform will have this written, detailed review of Payless power. As the automated service says, calls may be recorded for training purposes, I record phone conversations to ensure scam businesses like this one are held accountable. I am still going to have to call to reiterate what I have just said and to also have my bank information promptly and completely removed since my account is still active after it was requested by me to be closed.

No problem with service but I've never understood the billing or what the actual coat per kwr is. On the average 4 kwh's costs me just over $3.00. This seems very high

I am a very cheap person when it comes to electricity- and it's all Payless Power's fault.Unplugging appliances as soon as they're not in use- turning lights off as soon as I leave the room, leaving them off when I'm in my bedroom, covering up windows and doors- you name it I've done it all in order to keep my electric bill low. And by "low" with Payless Power, I mean shelling out $40 every other week or even weekly.It gave me anxiety, checking my balance and knowing I'm getting low. I switched, and I expected the new power company to be worse since I left lights on, had the a/c on for a handful of days...but it was only $50 for the whole month! I am in absolute shock, Payless Power is an absolute scam. Under no circumstances should you EVER switch to Payless Power. You've been warned.

I love this company and recommend them. The electric bill is so much lower. The convenience of auto pay and their customer service is excellent. When I have a question, I call them, and they answer right away.
Sudden turn for the worse
Having a pre-paid plan, we used to enjoy a discount by maintaining a minimum balance. However, starting January 2021, the discount disappeared, and the value proposition for a pre-paid plan vanished. Additionally, a minimum daily charge of $2.67 is added (I am aware of no other major electric company that implements this immoral practice). This minimum daily charge means that you will be paying a minimum of $80 per month even if you unplug everything and go away on vacation!You'll probably see a tone-deaf response saying something to the effect of that the changes are consistent with the TOS, which is available on their website.Indeed, Payless Power suddenly forgot how to treat their customers right.

Love the daily notifications
I've enjoyed the ease with the service and plan. I am moving and will for a time have two locations so forced to look at alternatives due to policy restrictions that I can't be two places at once. I can't be caught not having AC in Texas during Summer while setting up the new and moving out of the old. Who came up with that policy. Also noticed the rates have changed ... Guess I will be risking another change but I did love how I always knew my balance and if something was wrong due to the charges (roommate) ... Great way to keep track and know when to pull back and shut things off! Not to mention FACEBOOK and the things I learned along the way!

I've had this company for about 5 months now. They charge more than what a normal plan would. I had Tara Energy before this and I was paying $100 or less a month. With Payless Power I'm paying damn near over $150 a month. And they have a switch hold on my meter?! This company is crooked. I hate it.

A quick review of your historical usage shows that the address where you live consumes a lower than average amount of power in the spring and fall but a much higher amount in the summer. Emotional Distress
The manager and employees are liars and is witholden my hand written check that the bank stateed it doesn't accept. Its been over 12 days of them holding my check and I still await for a refund for being dissatisfied with ignorant communicated agents and had to switch power service because I was unhappy with thier miserable communication as a paying customer. I was told that my registered email check was not acceptable but I could mail it in but then when I did send it certified mail, it was denied after recieving an email I could mail it. I was given an off the record cell phone number of a manger to speak with about the matter because the call wasn't being recorded. I totally feel discriminated against and this company has caused me emotional distress which I send out invoices for!!! With prejudice

They claim Centerpoint sends them the actual metered amount (whenever) and that they might sometimes "undercharge" customers based on their "estimated" daily calculations. Hear me out new customers, as you maintain this company you'll see that over time they'll start ripping you off. I'm hardly ever home and when I am I only use a desk lamp to study for a few hours. Even unplug most appliances (except for fridge) to conserve energy. BUT they increase the price amount and inflate (lie) the usage. I'm switching in a few days.

Worse power company ever
I thought they had reasonable rates when I started service with them.After the first months the rates started going up till I was paying 20 dollars a day for two people.They will cut you off quickly to get an additional 25 dollars.I think we were better off before deregulation.This company is bait and switch.If you need electricity dont get with this company.

False Advertisement
This company is deceiving and manipulative. They advertise are rate of 12.1 cent with no additional fees but youll never receive the rate of 12.1 cent. Ive spoken to a number of customer service agents who like to talk to you like youre stupid until you pull out a calculator and show them the numbers dont add up. Theyll place you on a long hold because they dont understand why. During this time theyre trying to come up with an excuse for the false advertisement. They try to say theres an additional TDU delivery charge but their sales agents will tell you all of the charges and fees are bundled into that 12.1 cent. Ive even called and pretend like I was a new customer, asked if there was an additional TDU charge and they will tell you no. My balance has always been over $35 yet I never receive the rate they advertise. If that isnt bad enough if your balance goes under $35 they will really start taking advantage of you. Charge as much as .20 per kWH. If you try to keep you electricity consumption down because of their high rates, they will charge you an additional $1 on top of that rate. This is completely deceiving and false advertisement. If youre ready this youve most likely been scammed by them already and youre not alone. Their sales agents and customer service representatives are trained liars.

Service is ok
I needed a credit reference for an important application. Payless Power customer service would only give me reference from the time you have had this online site. I was a customer for a year prior but he wouldn't give that info for my application. Longevity was my whole point of requesting credit reference. It hurt me in long run to not get that information.
We do apologize for the inconvenience. We did launch a new system therefore we could only pull up account history from the time the system transition till current day. We will be happy to assist you on a proof of service if that will help because unfortunately we don't offer letter of credits.

Deceptive Practices
Garbage. I signed up for a plan that states "$50 credit after 30 days of usage." However, the fine print states "180 must be maintained, or PaylessPower can reverse the credit." Why is this garbage? Because the TOS that displays during the online sign up differs from the TOS that I was sent, and the TOS that displays when I login to my account and look under "plan documents." This 180 day requirement is nowhere to be found. Is the company technically correct? Sure. But this is extremely deceptive. Why should I not assume that the TOS shown at sign up is not the same as the TOS that is provided with the plan? Didn't think I would have to read through two different TOS sheets to know what I was signing up for. Shady and deceitful.

These people promise you a certain rate but overcharge you. The scam is to charge you far more than they advertise then "possibly" rebate you some money if you scream loud enough and meet a bunch of conditions. If you contact the company about this they act like you are just an idiot that can't do simple math to figure what they are REALLY charging you. Very deceptive marketing. Any company that has to market like this to get customers should tell you something about their dishonesty. I have had to file a complaint with the Utilities Commission. The service was so bad, I was only with the company for a few days before I switched. On a positive note, if you really like being lied to and getting ripped off, then this is the company for you!

Happy customer
I've been a happy customer for several years now. Was kind of disappointed to find out price went up. Has went up twice since I've been with them. And have been a few times they had problems with meters and completely overcharged due to weather circumstances. Customer service was not able to explain, help or correct the situation. But I can't really see myself leaving this company over these issues. Nothing in life is perfect! Lol. Would definitely and have recommended to several friends who are satisfied as well. My only remaining concern is that as of June 18th 2018 I was told payments less than twenty dollars will not be accepted. I really hope this is not the beginning of the end of their easy, convenient service. Time will tell.

Changes made recently, charging daily when I use no electric!!
I use to love Payless, but totally reconsidering. I get daily texts giving me my usages, thing is it's costing me over $1.50 to $2.98 or day when I haven't been using electric. My building is a storage building. I go there maybe 2 times a month, I turn on one light bulb. For 30 minutes max. But get nearly $3 charge every day. Says I use 1.08 to 2.53 kwh , how electric is not used. I'm getting ripped off. Think I'm going to change.

Do NOT use if needing elec. Same day
I made an initial payment Sat afternoon for my service to start.. told it would take 4-6 hrs. Waited 6 hrs.. Nothing. Next day.. Nothing. Now here it js Monday morning & I am still without electricity. It is currently 88 in my apartment & the sun hasn't even risen yet. Not to mention i have a 6 month old whose bottles I've been taking to my office & Valero to microwave. Definitely would not recommend. Went with thia provider bc of "same day activation" but that is a lie. I would have at least appreciated honesty but to lie is so very unprofessional. Will be calling once they open back up to make complaint.

Realtor investors DREAM
I love this product. It is affordable and easy to track, thou a 2 day lag in account accountability of electricity used it is still as easy to track the usage at my rental property while it is waiting to be re-leased. It has helped me notice that extra lights were left on by mistake when I had not been in the house for about 2 days. A great tool for short term use but I can see using this for long term as well if I needed to monitor my electricity usage more closely.

Love the daily messages
I really like the daily messages that let you know where your balance is at, and like the fact that you can control how much electricity output you can have within your apartment. Terms & Rates not as quoted. Website portal only for payments NO INFO
At first, thought Payless would be great. Was receiving daily texts of $$ charged and KWH charged.New website rollout, since daily texts no longer include $$ spent, just total kwh and your balance remaining.Trying to camouflage what you are actually being charged that day, without customer's calculation.Continually told, great new stuff on website.... available soon. Told today "it was decided" by Payless Power to not provide customers with daily $$ charged, as this will soon be available on website. The only thing available on new site other than ways to pay/fund your account, is monthly billing statement. You cannot lookup any billing/usage history in real time, need to review your texts or wait til monthly statement in mail, or online. Hell, you cannot even look up what your rate or average is. Being charged daily and getting hit with 558kw charge, with no idea what your rate is means you cannot calculate what came out of our account without seeking out prior day's "balance remaining" and deducting manually. Great way to hide rates & $$$ under guise of customer improvement. It has been decided by me to shop elsewherefor power. Quoted rate 8.6 continually charged 11.6 /kwh Hard to detect until your monthly bill, or if you gather your texts & calculator

Just Got This And Already Over it.
I just signed up for this bc I needed service ASAP. I was just charged over $7 on my first day. That is crazy I live in a 600 Sq Ft apartment alone. I'm adamant on not using lights when the sun is out and keep my AC at 68 degrees. They also advertised $100 credit to new customers, which I did not receive. I wish I had done more research before signing up. I will be switching asap.

Not What They Advertise, AT ALL!
To make a long story short, they charged me double the amount I expected to pay. I only used about 800kw for the first month and since I never kept my balance at $35 or higher they feel its okay to charge for that. Isnt that absolutely ridiculous?! Anyway, it might be okay with other customers but to me it was unnecessary to keep putting money into my account to keep it at $35 or more in order to supposedly pay 20% less than their competitors. I highly doubt it.

Was Great! Until they were acquired by another company...
We decided to go with prepaid power because we (me & my roomate) don't have enough money to pay the big bills we used to get with TXU energy. All year long 2017- the rates were great. Electricity was cheap, until recently after Hurricane Harvey.... they updated their payment system & now their service is ridiculous. They "OFFER A DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN" - they want you to owe them money, doesnt make sense. It does make sense though for the company to put you in their pocket like that, they are raising rates and diminsh your account balance so fast that you go negative and then they allow you to run up negative $100+ and start texting you to get on their "DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN". What they've done may not be unethical but it is most definitely irritating, a business does have the right to change its service prices however it is no longer beneficial to use them as a electricity provider. Without getting angry and really speaking my mind, I am writing this review to let everyone know they are not worth trying and will eat your money so fast that it doesnt even make sense. I have three bedroom house and every week, were having to put money on the account. I conserve energy and still lose it all. This review was written by me, allen. Paymore Power
This was the most expensive electric company I found in Texas. Rates are too high. I was paying about 100 a month. I had to find another provider asap. I switched and I am very happy now.

NEW UPGRADE IS HORRIBLE
As I am trying to pay my bill, your crappy new system cant not "find" my account with the account number I provide that you text me with everyday. Also can not find my account with my phone number, that I used to set up the account. I need to pay to avoid disconnect but NO OFFICE IS OPEN until tomorrow? What kind of company has such limited customer service hours? SWITCHING RIGHT AWAY.

Avoid this company is possible! Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I've never had a representative make me feel so low about not being about to pay a $25 reconnection fee for my services. VANESSA was rude and very disrespectful, after speaking with her I will be moving my services to another company that doesn't treat that customers like trash.

Not a happy customer!
I've been a customer now for almost a year. We've had issues several times. I paid it a couple of months ago before they shut it off and they disconnected it and charged the $25 reconnect fee. I called and complained and was told there was nothing they could do. This month they granted an extension until 5 pm. At 5:10 a $25 reconnect was charged even though it was not disconnected. I will be switching and would not recommend them to anyone. I have never had so many issues from an electric company in my life!

Rip Off
Renter moved and didn't pay. They put a Switch Hold on my property and so far have refused to remove it even after they have been notified the property owner is now in control of the property. They have called me and sent me emails wanting me to sign up for electric power with them and I have refused. A complaint to the BBB will be made next week.

2.0 upgrade sucks!
I been with payless for about 4 years now and until now I'm not happy with the service at all. With the new 2.0 upgrade where if you have over $35 in the account they give you a "discount " and if you don't keep the account above $35 you get charged double . I don't see this fair some of us are very thight in money and cannot afford to keep putting money to keep it over $35. I used to love payless but i think its time to change companies. Cannot afford to keep paying $5-6 a day!

No Terms of Services, rates can change
When a rate has changed you will only be notified via a txt message only. Pay as you go is currently 12.2 per kWh, if u keep a balance above 35$ it's 8.7, so there advertised 10.9 does not exist anymore(summertime excuse raise in rates). Also if you do not use above 17 kWh they can charge you a extra .50 per day. On there web page you cannot review your monthly kWh usage for comparison's, you can only pay your bill. One good thing I found out late was you can pay from your bank account without being charged 3$ that ace rips you off with, probably could have saved $100 bucks if I'd known that sooner a year ago.

VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER
I was satisfied when I called and needed my electricity turned on immeadiately and when they said they could do it today I was beyond happy, the only problem is I feel like I was scammed by this company because I paid for electricity at 2:29pm the guy said an HR and it would be on two hours later I call and the lady says it may take up to one to Six hours depending on oncore electric well it's now 6:15 and I called to get an update and everyone is closed including oncor so someone keeps to tell me if my electricity is going to be on or not I have a 7 yr old daughter and my house was supposed to be ready TODAY now thanks to the electric company I'm sleeping in my car. I pray by God's grace the lights come on tonight because if not when I call Monday I'm cancelling and telling everyone what scam artists you are!!

So I used my sisters email address to receive a paper bill to show proof of residency since i was locked out of my jobs email account since I've been on medical leave for 2.5 months she owed money on her account and they are holding me reliable for her account just because I used her email address!

Too Pricy
Went with payless power when i moved be cause i was needing lights on asap first couple days were $2.02, and max $4 than all of a sudden got hit with a $9 charge for one day of power. me and my boyfriend are hardly home and haven't used the washer dryer dishwasher etc i red the reviews before i got payless power and i should have listened. $9 a day for a couple is crazy i used to live in a 2 story house with 4 people and we averaged about $5 to $6 a day and that was in the summer. Will be switching companies asap

Cheap but wish the customer service was nicer
I just got them and I am paying $1.00 to $1.25 a day! I have never paid so little for electricity in my life! I did call in to customer service to make sure I was being charged right and they said I was but they were kind of like robots. Not really nice but not really mean just kind of like they were just their doing a job. Normally I don't like this but I don't mind so much since I am paying so little.

Worth it
The overall prepay part is super efficient for the two of us living in our home. We have had our usage up to about $7.00 at hour highest on a Hot day in August... And now that it is fall $2.00 in a day at our lowest.
Also, if you exceed the amount and go negative with them there is a $25 fee to turn it back on, but the $25 goes on as a deposited amount on your account. So if you were -$1 then you would have +$24 + whatever else you add with it. So it's a good company and a good way to do electric.

Crooked as they come!!
It's funny how as long as I have a decent amount of funds in my account, my daily usage doesn't seem to be all that ridiculous. However when I appear to be getting low on funds then suddenly my daily usage seems to almost double, and occasionally even triples, which is funny since it's just me and my daughter and we are home the same time everyday so it should never fluctuate that much!! Unless of course my service provider wants to nail me for a disconnect fee!!! This company doesn't hesitate to take advantage of those of us who can't just switch service providers because of our current situations. It's really sad! I have been paying about $30 a week for the past 2 months which i understand because we do use about 40-50kw a day my husbands check got shorted $300 last week so my account went negative $0.37 i went and put $3 on it just to make sure it didn't get disconnected since my dad was calling to put some money on it in 30 minuets he called and someone told him my account was negative $45!!! and the lowest amount they could except was $30 my electric DID NOT GET CUT OFF YET..... and my account was NOT negative $45 i checked online it said negative $0.37 and the texts i get said the same thing!! i also called myself after he told me and the lady i talked to said it wasn't negative $45 it was negative $0.37 and then a payment of $3.00 posted bringing my balance to $2.63 and then a payment(that my dad made) of $30 posted she said she reviewed my account and the notes from the call didn't show they informed him to pay $30 so shes doing a call review my dad is VERY upset with me he was only going to put $10 seeing how my husband gets paid Friday and its Wednesday...

MONEY HUNGRY
I have been on and off with this company for about 3 years now. The only reason i keep going back to them is it it so cheap to start up i think like 25.00 dollars. But it seems like i put money on the light every week. I have a 2 bedroom apt, not very big at all, but yet i spend anywhere from $6.00-$8.00 A DAY. That is ridiculous, i added up what i spend a month and it is around 300.00 350.00 a month, that is so crazy. I hate this company and cant wait until i can find a electric company that does not rip me off everyday.

Time to switch providers......
I have used this prepaid electric provider for more than a year and up until today they were okay, but now I saw how they really do business and I disagree. Time to change providers!!! I received a text this morning, like I do every morning, only this time it said my account was -1.53 and I should make a payment to avoid disconnection. Okay, I was at work and had to wait til I was able to take a lunch before I could make a payment. I was able to take my lunch at 230 pm which is when I made my payment, but apparently they had already shut my service off. So now half of my payment has to go to an unnecessary reconnect fee. I completely disagree with not giving people (especially those of us stuck at work) at least until close of business to bring their account current. That to me is a complete rip off.

Ripoffs
Was okay to start. Got daily reports on how manu KWH's we used, that was good. Then they started 'Guess-timating" and no more daily reports to our cell phone. Next thing we know, no matter how much stuff we turn off, no matter how warm we run the A/C, turn off lights, turn off comps and t.v.'s, same thing everyday. Next thing we know, up to 600 dollars a month in electricity, but getting calls weekly that we are about to be shut off.Ask what happened to our daily KWH reports, they put a switch hold on us, even though we were paid well in advance (They do not want to ever lety you off the hook...they put a switch hold on you for pre-paid electricity? This HAS to be illegal!)A nightmare to get rid of them and get with another company. NEVER sign up with these absolute, unscrupulous criminals. They make the criminals at ComCast look like a reputable company!!!

Very Disappointed Will Be Looking Elsewhere
This company is charging me way more than the other prepaid light company that I use to have. To top things off. I never received a disconnection notice and my lights were cut off at 8 pm and it is 11:30 pm and they ate still disconnected. How can a company not only cheat you with service everyday and then on top of everything else our lights get disconnected without notice. I have 4 children (1 being a 7 month old) and it is may in Texas. They are crying and suffering through no mistake of our own. I will be contacting the BBB and doing something legally. So very very disappointed.

Meter Reads
I have called a couple of times with regards to what I know are inaccurate meter charges. I had questions before the calls. However they charged me for usage of five dollars or more on days when I was either not there at all...or there with lights off and the were thermostat on 77...Then when you finally do call you get placed on hold for an eternity. Then you are told "oh the system is running slow and we can't download your info,and/or a supervisor will call you back which has yet to happen. I will call again and if I get no response take my business elsewhere. It's clearly not valued here

Satisfied
I came to payless power last winter when my bill from another provider went from being around $100/mo to $721 for one month. They were helpfull and got my electric same day. Went out of their way to help me out and gave me a promotinal credit. I can have somewhat of an idea what is costing me in electricity. My only problem is when I use large amounts during winter months I need almost a 5day extension because I live week to week. And those large amounts are difficult to ome up with, but I do try when I can to unplug those energy drawing heaters. Company has been great though. Impatiently waiting on postpaid services??

Trying to get a hold of them three days in a row not open
I paid 60 dollars on the 21 st of December next day received a message my service was low so i paid 25 more dollars next day get messages saying im going to get disconnected i got an extension i tried calling since wednesday to get an extension cause i dont get paid until 31 st and nothing office customer service closed so christmas day i tried to pay on line with my visa card and it wouldnt go through now my powers cut off now im stuck with no electricity i dont see how i used this much electric and i only had my tv on didnt use heater cause i didnt want to use up my money im trying to switch company and now theres a hold on my meter over 15:35 cents its not a good christmas for me me and my kids out of electricity

Horrible customer service screwed me out of my money
This company is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been charged daily for my electricity, but all of a sudden 31$ was taken from my account saying my meter wasn't working, and those were estimates. First of all I was told there are no estimates with this company. Second nobody is at the house and lights stay off and ac at 78 how could my bill be more than 4-8$ a day. Third the girl I spoke with was rude spoke over me would not let me get a word in, and kept talking about crap I wasn't inquiring about. I'm highly upset and am considering switching companies. This is not worth the trouble and hassle to deal with. I just want my account fixed and my money back on my account. I'm getting overcharged and screwed by these bastards.

So Far It's Been Good
So far I like it. I started up on Monday 10-20-14. I really like bc I have bad credit and needed to have services at emergency and last minute. I have looked at Reviews from several different electricity companies. Most have the same type of complaints. Mostly all reviews in several are bad. What I liked about this is the!Supervisor canback up what went wrong and why things escalated to the point they did and how they do try to!resolve the issue if possible. I had a good experience getting the info I needed when I first called. It took me a week to make up my mind wether I wanted to switch or not I did. My first teo!days have came out to $2.91so I loved that. Of course there is a $10 charge to connect with AEP. I did call several times to get more info to be sure I had everything straighten out and questions answered. They were kind and patient with me on all this and answered my questions that I had. So it was great. The only one thing I will say is that when I went online to check my daily usage and balance. I discovered that I could've put $75 or more on my acct so they can give me $100 worth of service over a period of time. I put $50 to start off with just!to see if I was going to like it. I wish they would've told me that and I would've started my account with more $ in it. I also love that they extend you by bmp possibly 2 days if needed. Which is nice bc not others will do that for you. All in all. I so!far am happy with it. But fairly new into it. I think its goosd as long as you keep your balance off of negative and don't get a disconnection bc that's where I think a lot of the problems are started and misunderstanding are. Thank all the reps that were patient with me. And I hope I will stay with you all and it continues to be a good experience like it so far has been. I hope I continue to keep my rates low and made agood choice by!switching. Thanks.

DEPOSIT REFUND
PAYLESS POWER HAS TO BE THE MOST UNORGANIZED COMPANY IN THE TEXAS AREA. I USED THEIR SERVICE SINCE AUG 2011 UNTIL SEPT 2014. I HAVE BEEN CALLING, AS THEY TELL ME TO DO SO, EVERY FEW DAYS TO CHECK ON MY DEPOSIT REFUND. THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON IN THE ENTIRE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER THAT CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER AS TO WHEN I WILL RECEIVE NOR HOW MUCH MY DEPOSIT WILL BE. TODAY IS 9/29/14. THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF 7 - 10 DAY POLICY, AS THEY REQUIRE OF THEIR "VALUED" CUSTOMERS TO GET THEIR STUFF TOGETHER AND GIVE THE SO CALLED "VALUED" CUSTOMERS AN ANSWER. Biggest ripoff ever!!!!!!
Seems like a good idea at first and that u will save money but in reality u will be facing power shutoffs weekly with massive disconnect & reconnect fees. We ended up paying weekly what we used to pay monthly. Trying to dump them for another company is a nightmare as well. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this money pit that preys on the poor.

Pretty good so far!
We've had service for about a month. No deposit, and all of the charges are explained to you both online and on the phone when you sign up. They explain to you what the initial set-up fee is, minimum daily charges, price per KWH, etc. You can pay for a few days, you can pay for a month, it's up to you. We had to move on short notice and didn't have money for a huge deposit. We pay a few bucks extra every month for that courtesy, but I LOVE the daily updates on my balance and usage. It helps us to adjust our usage BEFORE the end of the month and getting slammed with a huge bill! It's easy, it's convenient, and they can turn on service same-day.

Disappointed &' Confused !!
I just got my service turned on with this company thinking it was a good idea but I already regret it. I haven't even moved in to this house and I haven't turned any lights on even the switches on the box outside are off and it says I used $6.00 and some change already? That's kind of impossible when I still live in my old house! I probably won't stick with this company the way its already looking.

When services are active & if the breakers are off Oncor (owners of the meters) will not be able to get the reads that are being reported so this will cause an estimation to happen. When breakers are turned on then Oncor will be able to communicate with meter & do what is called a true up to get the actual reads.

The switch hold curse
My girlfriend has a house that she let her sister stay in until we came back from a trip .While we were away light service was turned on from payless power by someone we don't know one of my girlfriends sisters friends .Now that we are back she wants to switch to a normal company an cant do to a switch hold.She has no way of getting info on a person she dose not know all she knows is she is the only name on the lease to the house an she cant even get services for lights in her own home in her name for her children . They wont even let her fax the lease agreement in so she can change the lights to her name.

Sucks don't get it
I thought this would be good for me since I live alone, I'm BARELY at home, they talk to you like you are making the right decision by switching to them & blah blah, well ive been with them for maybe 3 weeks now & have spent $150 on PREPAID lights wth when I had regular lights I was just paying 100 I'm turning off service TODAY, I'm fed up, I pay 40 dollars on lights they send a txt saying your balance is 25 critically low that was YESTERDAY, today I'm at $4.00. I'm tired they suck Do NOT COME TO THIS COMPANY

Greener pastures
Upon my last review of this company, I switched over to TXU electric. I admit, I was blown away by their $300 new customer service visa card and no deposit. A few months in and I was satisfied. No hidden fees and mama was happy. Then a month came where I paid a day late and then the following month as well. I was shocked to see a bill the next month for $758! It was a deposit for $400 due to my habitual late payments. I tried to work with them to no avail. I reflected that if I had been with Payless, it wouldn't have mattered I was needing a day extra to pay my bill because I could have gotten an extension. I mean, it was ONE FREAKING DAY. So I came back to Payless Power. I must say, I missed the daily text messages and extensions. I missed being in control of my daily usages. Why did I ever leave?!! Well I am back and happy and will never leave again. I do have one question though. When you have a protection date through..example: Account protected through 5/14/2014, does that mean you're due on the 14th or morning of the 15h? I am a little fuzzy on this one. Huge rip off!
I don't even know where to begin. Being a young person that I am, not having enough money to put down a hefty deposit with other electric company's I stupidly fell for pay less power. Me and my girlfriend are not home most of the time on weekdays because we both work. After we get off work we grab something to eat (NOT COOK) watch tv for maybe 3 house on a ENERGY STAR LCD tv and go to bed. And on the weekends we are usually out of the house enjoying our days off together. We have been doing laundry at my moms house and we cook maybe 3 times our of the week. Yes there was a cold front in our area and yes I did turn on the heater to 70.On our first few bills they charged us $5.95-7.00. I though huh that's weird I should slow down my energy consumption. And that when things got weird, I understand there was a cold front in the area, I was being charged $10-12 regularly in one day! I was paying over $50 a week in a one bedroom apartment, not doing laundry, barley cooking and barley even home. I had enough with the outrageous charges, for 3 days I decided to unplug everything and not turn on the heater at all. And i was being charged even more! I was angry and confused I called and told them the situation. all the rep told me was that yes my meter readings are odd, he told me to try not turning my heater on. I told him that's what I've been doing for three days I've unplugged everything. All he told me is that I should have my meter checked. One time my daily usage was 99khk in one day. Do you even know how ridiculous that sounds? Not even a two story 4 bedroom house uses that in one day. I had enough, I switched to Direct energy I've been with them for 2 weeks and only used $25 worth of credit IN TWO WEEKS vs $50 a week with payless. On a average work day (me and my gf at work, watching t'v for 3 hours, bed) I spend about $0.90-$2.00 a day. One day a really bad cold front came it was 30F outside our heaters were set on 74, we were home all day watching tv, baked chicken wings and even a cake did SIX loads of laundry and our daily usage for that was was only $4.50. Payless power will rip you off, they provide false meter readings, they will charge you whatever they feel like. If you're thinking of a not deposit, no credit check, prepaid electric plan go with direct energy instead.

Way too expensive
I spent a weekend away from home, so I cut off all lights and the heat. Each day I was gone, my usage was more than if I had been home. $10 dollars in one day...a day that I wasn't running anything but the fridge and other plug in appliances. But it seems I am paying 30 dollars every week for this service, even when I try to watch my usage. 65 degrees seems reasonable and shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Definitely looking elsewhere. I do not believe my usage is as they report on my daily text messages.

Just horrible on day 1!
I signed up for payless power today was told that if I made my payment by 3:45 I would get my services cut on for the same day. They told me submitted my order at 3:24, by 5 still no power so I called oncor they stated they had to record of a turn on at my address and stated the maximum amount of time it takes to get an order is 2 hours after submitted. I spoke to 3 representatives and a supervisor all guaranteeing my electricity would be on and it was submitted. I spoke to oncor up until they closed and they never got my turn on request. I have just purchaed groceries now they are all wasted because of them.

Before you get Payless read this
Let me start by saying that when I first switched to Payless Power, I was very impressed. The rates were reasonable with no hidden fees. I loved how I got a text message every morning and honestly this company has truly educated me on how to save on my electricity usage. Then things went weird. I figured out near beginning of summer that I could extend my account payment out by a week. This was awesome. It truly helped me. I paid a week behind every week, like clockwork. How awesome is that! However any incentives I started out with for paying a larger payment were gone. It use to be if you paid $150, $100 or $75 you'd get lower tiered rates per KWH. Gone. ok..well, they got to make money too. That was strike one, incentives gone. Then there was the small fee charged if paying less than $40 on your account. Sure, let's charge the people who obviously are scrimping pennies to pay for electricity, but it didn't effect me so much...strike two, unnecessary fees. At least with this fee I was SLIGHTLY warned ahead of time...would have been nicer for a heads up sooner. Now they have taken away my precious extension. Instead of 7 days, I now only have 4, which is counting the day of payment due. If I want to extend it 7 days I have to pay a fee. This one wasn't given to me as a warning, in fact the first time I saw it I didn't even know what it was. The second time the customer service agent did tell me prior to awarding me the extension, but not the first time, That's a hidden fee. I still can't understand why they don't text customers about changes to fees etc. Why do we have to find out last minute or in some cases after the fact? Strike 3, extension gone...strike 4, hidden fees....All in all I must say I actually did like this company. But I'm thinking its not the same company I signed up with. Maybe it is time for me to switch. If you never need an extension and want to prepay...this company is for you. If you pinch pennies and its hard to make ends meet...I'd shop around and get full details first.

Complete scam
My complete experience w/ Payless. Day one I turned the service on. 25 dollars w/ 25 dollar gift. 50 dollars how nice. Dat 2 revived txt 4.18 used. I was later told this was the amount paid a year before on that date b/c I was charged an extra 5 dollars on a later date since they couldn't get a reading for that day. Day 3 got a txt I used 17.23. I told my friend get bro tha bill was 20 dollars yesterday wtf. He said ok I will make sure to turn EVERYTHING off. Day 4 got a txt saying balance critically low 3.17 remaining 25.42 used. This is the day after we tired everything off. Do I immediately call asking why my bill is so hi never has it been over 5 a day much less 2 or 3. I was told it is "winter" that is "probably" why. I stated are you payin 20 a day for you energy the response was no of course. I submitted a meeter check. I was told this will come at the end of the month. I added another 50 so I wouldn't go negative and only 50 b/c there is a fee if you add less then 40. I then revived a txt sayin my account was "granted protection" thru 12/20/13. It is currently the the 12th of dec. 8 days prior to the 20th. Day 5 I revive a charge of 12.80. Day 6. Today. Critically low 24.90 left in account. Usage was 15.47. Now tell me why it has been less then a week and 100 dollars will b gone by the end of today. Who else can afford a 400 dollar energy bill? Y'all are OUT OF LINE. I've spoken with reps I've asked for the corporate number I was givin an adress to mail too. I asked for a supervisor I was told one will call me back. I'm still waiting. I told the rep since I've already called and nothing had been done. I'm not going to wait till the end of the month payin these prices just to see if the meeter is correct. I was told if I switch I will b charged 25. Well y'all can have y'all 25 back!! I told the rep go ahead and refund ALL the money in my account BACK onto my card y'all can HAVE that 25 back because I will SAVE MORE then 25 within 3 DAYS if I switch my service!!! I'm still waiting on the call back y'all need to be reported to some kind of agency and I am going to find out wich agency to contact. I WANT MY M***ER F***ING MONEY BACK!

Over $400 a month... SERIOUSLY!!!
I have been with payless power for over two years now at first it was actually not bad but then i moved into a home. so far this month i have already paid almost $300. My highest daily usage was $32.00 which is ridiculous. all customer service can tell me is its because of the cold front. screw the cold front!!! We purposely set our heater on 65 so we would hardly use the heater due to the weeks prsvious balances. so we even froze ourselves in the dark to watch our balance and it still didn't matter. it atstill gave us over $20 a day of usage. i didn't even do laundry to try and watch the balance. tomorrow my extension is up and ill be paying over $120 tomorrow just to hold me over ONE week. i the sad part is even if i don't pay the $110 thrn my service will disconnect even though i have paid almost $300 just thos month. its pissing me off because we have done everything to keep the usage down but its not helping and this crap is taking away from my children's Christmas. i shouldn't be having to pay or stress this much over electricity!!!??!

Don't Do It--They Inflate Their Numbers!
I signed up with Payless Power just to get my electric on quickly in rent house. They were quick with that, but the billing is SO INFLATED. I called customer service after three days because my bill was running quadruple what it should be (I wasn't even moved in yet.) The customer service agent (Marissa) had no skills and gave me canned responses. I explained the situation again and she told me that Oncor showed last year it was running 24 kwh, but they were charging me 84+ kwh! She said it would start evening out as they got true readings from Oncor. (So right there she admitted it was overestimated!) I asked about a credit for the over-inflation. She said I would get that. Well that hasn't happened either. Rather, my daily readings are all over the place and I am remaining pretty steady in electric usage (appliances still not moved to house yet.) Today, I get a text that I used 139 kwh yesterday!!!! Really????? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE....sign up with a REAL electric company. That's what I'm going to do. Not worth it
The daily kwh rates they give through text are insane. It goes from 4-7 dollars daily the first 3 weeks of November to 17-19 dollars daily in the last week alone. I've used less energy this past week and get charged more than double. I'm certainly going to switch at this rate. And the customer service provides no help. Just horrible. My smart meter outside reads way less than what i'm told i spend. I'm pretty sure they're absolutely guessing my house's energy consumption as they've stated they will do even though i have a smart meter. Seeing as they actually respond to complaints online unlike while i'm on the phone with them, I want to see them respond to me right here. Again, horrible and completely frustrating.

Wonderful experience
I was so worried about obtaining affordable electric service when we had to move. My credit is horrible and I could not afford a huge deposit. After checking with several companies, all whom wanted a huge deposit and as I had terrible credit the rates would have been high. Someone told me about pay as you go electric. I looked it up online and found PAYLESS POWER, heaven sent. No deposit. They even gave me 25 dollars of service free. The rates are reasonable. They send me a text everyday so I know when I am needing to add funds to my account. No hassle, no headache. They had me hooked up when promised, it has been wonderful. The bills stayed resonable even during the 100 degreee days with the ac going. I am very happy. I LOVE PAYLESS POWER!!!!!!!

Confused
This gets crazy. My electric balance goes up and down and the days for termination are confusing Yesterday It was good until 1 -9-2014. Today the 6th. It has done that before . I called and was told that it changes and was not an accurate record. What the ... do they even do it for then? I was snakebit when I changed . I had Smart and that was not smart. They are dilatory in all and they owe me 177.00 . I want my money and They came with some kind of... . That is why I complained to the Public Utilities Communion and the Attorney Generals office on fraud. I just want to understand what is going on with MY money.And I do not. How can it be the 9th and then the 6th when I did not have anything on?

Payless uses very TRICKY BILLING. Come to Direct Energy Prepaid
I was with Payless Power Briefly. They are very good at responding to online complaints. However, when I was with Payless Power I had a lot of unexplained charges. I was not running my a/c at all. I was STILL running a bill of around $5.00 to $6.00 a day. I couldn't understand why just running one light and my fridge and microwave would make me pull that much power.After switching from Payless Power and Acasia Energy (THEY ARE JUST AS BAD TRUST ME), I finally went to Direct Energy (whose a full service energy company and they have just got into the prepaid business as well) and my energy usage running my A/C FULL THROTTLE "NONSTOP" comes to around $.40 cents PER DAY! This was compared with the $5.00 to $6.00 per day those other prepaid services were charging me. Direct Energy does take a daily charge of $.33 cents per day but they also give me a FREE SATURDAY where I can use all the electricity I want and am not charged.I thank GOD for them.

Very pleased
I have been nothing but pleased with my service. Setting up at Ace was a breeze & my service was turned on the next morning which was a Saturday. I get daily texts of the previous days usage &my balance. I've been careful to use electricity only when necessary & have my daily usage down to $4.50 with doing 1 load of laundry plus I live in a 3000sf home. Why didn't I get Payless sooner??

PAYLESS POWER SUCK DON'T SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!
I TRIED TO GET AN EXTENSION UNTIL FRIDAY BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE SHUT OFF WEDNESDAY BECAUSE IM NEGATIVE 8$! R U FUCKIN SERIOUS I CAN'T GET 2DAYS NOW MIND U MY ACCOUNT SAID I WAS PROTECTED UNTIL 12-22-13 now I'm facing shut off 9-24-13 smfh I ONCE LIKED THIS COMPANY NOW I HATE IT OH YEAH THEY CHARGE U TO SWITCH COMPANIES. COMPLETE SCAM!!! NEVER TAKE THE LOAN!!
I HAD AN ISSUE WITH PAYING MY BILL BECAUSE MY PAYDATE WAS THE DAY AFTER MY DUE DATE. I CALLED AND THE REP SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THEIR LOAN TO BRING ME TO A POSITIVE BALANCE AND GET MY EXTENSION THAT WAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY I ATTEMPT TO MAKE A PAYMNT AND I SEE THAT MY BALANCE IS NOW HIGHER THAN IT WAS WHEN THEY GAVE ME THE LOAN!! IT HAD NOT EVEN BEEN 1 DAY SINCE MY BALANCE WAS $0. THE REP TELLS ME THAT AN ANNUAL METER READING WAS DONE AND THAT I WAS CHARGED FOR USUAGE THAT WAS NOT RECORDED??? I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN AND TOLD HER THAT I WILL JUST CHANGE PROVIDERS AND HER RESPONSE WAS "WELL IF YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE I NEED YOU TO PAY BACK THE LOAN FIRST AND I WILL REMOVE THE SWITCH HOLD FROM THE ACCOUNT. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! SCREW YOU PAYLESS POWER!!

Scam-Messing w/ my son-always try t o disconnect for additional $25 dollar reconnect. A ll messed up-not reputable & rude as well as an unprofessional nightmare. NO.SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOUNG ELECTRIC OWNS THIS PAYLESS POWER
They have the Worst Customer Service EVER!! they will literally submit a disconnect order if your is negative .85 cents. HORRIBLE!! AND YOUNG DOESN'T EVEN CARE!! I have emailed mailed them directly and don't bother with the crappy customer service reps that answer their calls.

Worst electric company by far... total scam!
I needed electricity for a rental unit for a short time less than 20 days in order to get it ready to rent out. I was hesitant to begin service as they advised me that it would be .50 per day for using the service as well as a 4.95 connection fee and a 10.00 oncor fee as well as .50 cents for day every day that a certain amount of electricity was not used. I started to cancel while in process and the sales rep said that although i hadnt completed the transaction that my card had already been charged and that it would take 5-7 days to credit my account back although i hadnt yet finished the application or confirmed anything.(what a bunch of crock!) they "gave" me the 25.00 credit which of course has to be paid back if you cancel within 180 days. the daily usage report varied with the rate... sometimes significantly up to almost $9,00 one day and even when no one has been in the house for days the rate still varies with nothing plugged in or turned on... we are talking an empty house! Since they are not available on weekends i called first thing monday morning july 22 to cancel service as my balance was already at -$1.22. they said disconnection would occur that day but since then i am still getting fees charged for EVERY day even though the electricity is supposedly off and when i called back today they informed me that the cancellation takes 3-5 days to complete and that i was still being charged and the guy kept repeating that (like i couldnt understand) and when i asked for a supervisor he said that one would call me back! what a joke! they charged me basically over $60 for electricity "service" for 20 days on a empty house that i only spent two days at for a couple hours cleaning! rip-off!!!

Ahhh!!!! Terrible Service
I've never been ripped off till I joined this company. Avoid this one in particular because of there energy fees alone. I tried paying 100$ thinking it would lower the rates but instead it was a 25$ holding fee and the rest.... Im almost positive was gone in a week. They charged me almost 10$ a day. STAAAAAAYYYYY AAAWWWWAY FROM PAYLESS POWER

Deferred payment plans
Payless power is the most dangerous rip off prepaid electric company I have ever known an experienced. I paid whatever amount they charged, this summer they have been billing me unnecessarily,$40.00, $43 to 45.00 every week. As soon as they notice I will been switching out from them to a more reliable energy company they put me on there deferred plan for no reason and switch hold until deferred payment is made. I never requested a deferred plan. In the letter they send to me "Deferred payments are available upon request in the following situations: if your account reaches a negative balance of $50.00 or more during an extreme weather event. If a state of disaster has been declared in your area by the governor of Texas and PUC requires that deferred payment plans be offered. If Young Energy, LLC, DBA payless Power has under billed your account by $50 or more for reasons other than theft of service.None of this information is relevant to me and I don't understand why they will put a switch hold on my account to prevent me from switching my account. Their main purpose is to steal money from me by charging me way high electric bill every three days. I have paid almost $500 for the month of July and I don't even use my air condition as hot as it is in Texas. If anyone out there is planing on using this company please DON'T, STOP AND DO YOUR RESEARCH. Don't be fool by their welcome package. I have been with this company for almost 2 years and If it means going to all social media and filing a complaint to make my point across I will do so. They are ripping me off of every little amount of my low income wage.

Sucks sucks
First off, there is not many good reviews for this company. I truely believe the few good rating are written by employees. They have no idea what's going on. Summer of 2012, was my firstst summer with them. they over charged me so much for June, July, and Aug. That I had a credit balancethrough January of 2013. I had no balance due from september to feburary. That may sound good if you have the money to just let them have it to draw interest on but I don't. Evertime I turned around my elect was being turned off. I had to pay in payments. I livin on employment. They won't listen o u and have no superviser for u to talk to. They don't care if its 100 plus.all they want is ur money.

ABSOLUTALY LOVE IT!!!!!
I just love how i only pay for what i consume. Many companies have many hidden additional fees im sure you have noticed them in your bill they normally add up to about 30.00 to 40.00 dollars. Now i dont know about everyone else but i love keeping my hard earned money in my pocket. There FLEXPAY99 plan is the best and has a very low rate of just 8.9 in the Oncore area everyone else is at 11 to 14 cent a kwh

WORST ELECTRIC COMPANY EVER!!!!
I tried to make a few payments over ?the phone only to be told I had insufficient funds....so I hung up with them and called my bank and on three different occasions money was taken out of my account and it said payless power plain as day but they swear ?the never received a payment from me even when I faxed them my bank statement! Bottom line...this company steals money out of peoples account and they will give you ?the run around until you just leave ?the company. ?the managers name is ray honeycutt but even that name sounds fake AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!

Rip Off
This company is falsefying information just to get you to join their company and the kilowatts are high and they rip you off by giving you a credit to start right now their offering $25.00 and this $25.00 will never be paid back they do this to hold you in with their company and they will chcage the credit they gave you to an higher price once you get their service so the $25.00 will then go to $50.00.

Great for those who know....
I have been a cust of Plp for over a year now and I love the pay as u go plan I pay for exactly what I use I think u need to know what Ur getting into before u agree to the service yes there is a hold that gets placed on your account but that's only if the company gives u a loan and when the loan is paid back it gets lifted common sense people I have always been treated good I especially love one of the reps name rosa the nicest person I've meet I would really recommend the service

Horriable Company
Everytime I try to make a payment, their automated system, or online services reject my card. Plenty of my money in my account, seems if they reject my card untill my services are cut off, so i have to pay a rediculous reconnection fee, THEY ARE THEIFS!!!! LOVE STEALING YOUR MONEY!

Our automated system is designed to match billing information the card is listed to same account information we have, if none of the information match the cards info to the account then the card will declined. We do offer other payment methods in case if one isn't working.

Poor Customer Service
Payless Power does not validate information provided. A new customer was setup with the wrong contact information. I have been receiving this customers account information for the past week. When I contacted them to have my number removed they advised they can't do that because its the only number they have for this customer. So now I continue receiving text messages with this customers information.

Rediculous
I started getting text messages from this company about an account I never signed up for. I called them and told them and they refused to remove my number. I still receive texts daily after multiple phone calls telling them that this is a mistake.

Dont know what they are doing
okay, where do I start.. This company's employees have no clue what they are doing... I
had the joy of speaking to an employee named Mason who apparently doesn't know how to enter
data into there system which cased me to spend
over 2hours trying to correct all my personal
information. And no matter who I would talk to
I would always get sent back to him because he
owns my account... anywhoo I finally talk to a
guy named Ren who sits next to Mason and he was
able to help Mason out with correcting my
information so I could finally set up service
with them. Oh. and they transfer you to a 3rd
party to verify your information... omg those
people are so rude, its not even funny... And i
will be back to update my review about this and
the new company I will be switching to
;)because if this is what happens with their
new customers I don't want to imagine how they
treat the existing ones.. hope everyone has a

Horrible!
I had to pay 600 dollars in December of 2011 and over 600 again in January of 2012 again! We thought it was a pay as you go and when i called and said i didnt use that much they said they will return the money after three months when they check the meters again! Thats all nice but that didnt help when i had to pay 600 and my rent is only 559! If you like spending lots of money than this is the company for you!
Trish- The situation that you described revolved around a plan called financial pre-paid that was associated with old analog style meters. As of 10/1/11 Payless Power stopped offering these plans to new customers. We now only offer pay as you go style plans that deduct funds daily based on your actual daily meter reads. No monthly estimates are used.

Not Recommended
Rates are super high, even compared to other pre-paid companies. Deceptive sales tactics and grossly incorrect approximate date of connection. I would pass on Payless Power. Many other options available.
Jeff- Please note that service may be connected same day on any account that has completed all necessary verifications and that has the proper starting payment posted by 5:00 PM. Of course this is a typical scenario. If there are any unforeseen issues with the meter or if your city requires a meter permit etc...there may be delays.

Family Owned and Customer Oriented
Recording conversations or not, I tend to
question the accuracy of an online review with
several spelling errors and grammatical issues-
as it was probably written in haste by a hot
tempered individual. This company is local and
family owned, caring about nothing more than
their customers. I found them and their great

No meter reading
You have too pay the history of someone else that lived at your address prior
to you. They will not send you a bill so you can pay. They say they
have bill pay online. Online it states coming in fourth quarter.
When you call in your payment charged $5.00 fee. Can not receive a bill to mail the payment so you do not have to pay the fee on the
phone. The due dates always change when you call in.
