New Customer Impressions
So far, I love this provider! Great rates, great plans, Great customer support Rep (Edy), Liberal non-expiring Solar Buy-Back, Fun Texas-centric attitude. I can't imagine why all this would change but, should it, I'll update my review.
Thanks for the feedback Mike!

Great Experience and a Great deal
Initially, I had a few questions when I signed up and the customer support really helped me. I was able to lock in a great rate.
Texas Energy
So far our bill has been lower than what we were paying. It is nice to be able to budget our bill with our plan.
Cheap rates, amazing service
I was searching for energy plans, came across Energy Texas, they not only offered affordable plan but also first month was free plus there are other bill credits.
Happy we moved over to Energy Texas!
Easy to sign up, simplified account management, understandable billing.
Quick, simple, and fast
Energy Texas is fast, and simple to sign up. Immediate response. Easy to pay. Website is exceptional. Easy to find whatever you need to know. Rates are now good.
Finally an Energy Company with Great Prices and No Gimmicks
Energy Texas is easy to work with. They have straight forward pricing and great rates. They DO NOT have ridiculous terms that require a minimum usage to get the great rate. They even give you a discount if you reduce your usage during high demand. The gravy on top is that it all of the energy is from renewable sources.
Best Change Ever!
I have bounced around electric companies for years. Never been happy till now. After one free month because I signed up for paperless billing, I finally received a bill. Half the amount I was expecting. I am so happy with this company.
Really affordable
They have the lowest priced plan, and on top of that, their customer service is excellent. I feel right at home with them.
Friendly service over the phone
The phone service is exceptional in helping solve problems and inquiries into account status and switching at last second to a different unit number for the same rate you originally shopped for.
Great customer service and no gimmick rates
Straight forward pricing with helpful customer service.
Thanks for the review! We are Texans serving our fellow Texas with no bull pricing!

Uneasy about random automated eMails
Getting multiple Welcome eMails spread out over the last months made me a bit uneasy. Also, 3 payment notification for zero dollars. Thanks for eventually sending an apology.
Computer/automated eMail system at TX Energy is a bit communication happy.
So Far So Good
Customer service hours not compatible with other service providers. Wasn't told in advance of the good promo I was to receive.
Newcomer to Texas energy finds the best plan
I did not know what I was looking for only that I needed electricity. It did not take long to find rates, conditions, and information on green suppliers on the Texas Electricity Ratings website. After reading about all of providers in my area I made a decision and so far I am pleased with my provider.
So far!
So far its been a great experience, excellent price per kilowatt and very low bills!! Just what we was looking for. I only gave customer service 4 stars because we havent had any contact with them.
Great Experience
I was able to establish service & all online. When I had a question, customer service was able to help in one call. This has been the BEST experience with an electric company I have ever had!!
Great price but costumer service need to improve
Very trust price and rates , but costumer care need to improve. When i call the costumer care , i felt the tape record looks like a scam . Web site online account doesn't work well. i tried many time to reset password but i couldn't receive a link to reset it. I hope they will fix them asap.. i give 5 star to their fair price. the others looks cheap but you will never pay that rate..
Thanks for the review! We want to serve our fellow Texans with fair, no bull pricing. We are always working to improve our customers' experience both online and offline. We appreciate the feedback and will reach out to you for more details about your experience.

For a no bull company they sure did put their foot in it!
Don't trust them. Signed a contract with them and they changed the terms 2 months later. When I pointed out that we have a contract they said they would wave the cancelation fee if we wanted out. For a no bull company they sure did put their foot in it!
Hi there - We did change our solar buy back terms and we notified you, as well as all of our solar buy back customers, on March 24th 2023 via email that these changes would take effect on May 1st. Our buy back rate now matches the market clearing price of energy, capped at your energy charge. We have also introduced surge pricing, where during high demand periods, you will be able to sell back energy at higher rates. We understand that these terms may not work for everyone, which is why we waived early termination fees for solar customers, as stated in the email sent on March 24th for a period of time. As always, we appreciate our customer's feedback.

Solar PV Owners looking for BuyBack Should Find Another provider
If you have a Solar PV System, stay away. They sold me on a good Solar Buyback plan that paid the same back to me as I paid, minus the Centerpoint charges and their monthly fee, then they changed it after only a few months on their plan. Yes, they gave me 30 days notice to leave the plan without penalty, but that was while I was still on the equal buyback option. After it actually changed and I saw what it did to my bill, I wanted to leave, but it was too late without the penalty. They should have let us see what a bill would look like with the new plan. In one month, when my bill should have been less because I produced more electricity, my bill went up about $66. There are better options and I can't leave without paying a $250 penalty. I lost respect for what I thought was going to be a great company.

I have all my bill on Autopay and they all come out on the same day every month, the Due Date. But Energy Texas takes it out when ever they feel like sometimes the 1st other times the 3rd or 5th. The Due date is the 7th and thats when I expect it to come out. Wouldnt be a big deal if I had tons of extra money but I dont and dont get paid until the 4th. Customer Service was not helpful left me on hold for a long period of time ,comes back to tell me there is not a Supervisor/Manager that I could speak with and he will try to maybe have someone call me in the morning. But if they dont call I should call back. So thank you for nothing Energy Texas
Hi there - We appreciate your feedback. Pease email howdy@energytexas.com so that we can help to resolve your issue. We do offer the ability to pick your own due date, so that should alleviate any issues you may have.

Billing and disconnect
Bills were paid on time. followed up with bank to confirm bills were paid and date texas electricity received bills. all was good. Paid each time on the due date of bill. received disconnect notices on a Friday and the notice was written up on the same day as the due date of the bill... which was paid. 1st time did not get disconnected but we got a notice. 2nd time they sent disconnect notice again and disconnect power on Monday. They were paid. I called and they told me can take up to 10 days to process payments. I said to them so if a bill is due on the 11th you really need a payment on the 1st so you will not disconnect us. He said yes. So their billing is false so they can charge you a disconnect fee and a reconnect fee. They received payment on the due date so they should mark as paid. Can't help it if their accounting takes up to 10 business days to process. Not my issue it is theirs. I work from home and power got disconnect on a Monday I had to pay with a credit card so they would turn on the power. They still have not processed the check payment and it has been over 2 weeks. We cancelled with them and moved to another company. They sent us a bill stating we owe them for the disconnect and reconnect bill plus the early disconnection. Not paying for this. They screwed up not us. Would have stayed with them if their billing was done properly. Person I talked to said wire transfers and checks take up to 10 days to process even if was paid on the due date which means they will disconnect you even though they have your payment in hand. Account should be marked paid not how long it takes for them to process payments from banks.
Hi Karen - It sounds like you are using your bank's bill pay system to pay your bill. If you bank with a larger bank, we are integrated to receive funds electronically for bank bill pay. If you have a smaller bank, many times banks will withdraw the funds from your bank account at the time you initiate your payment however, you bank will print and mail a physical check to our payment processing mailbox. Energy Texas does not receive the funds instantly, which is the reason that you received a disconnection notice. To ensure payments are processed in a timely manner, we advise customers who want to pay by bill pay with a smaller bank or check to allow extra time for your bank to print and mail the check, as well as for Energy Texas to receive it. I am having a hard time locating your account so if you can email us at howdy@energytexas.com, we can review your account and follow up with you personally to resolve your lost check.

Thieves
I only went to energy texas due to their buy back program. I was very happy they first few months. Then they changed their solar "program" and this month I sent them over 250kw more than last month, but my credit dropped over 60% from the previous month. Called in to see if they could fix it. Nope. Its a program not the contract that changed. So if I'm unhappy i have to pay $500 to cancel the contract. There's a reason I hadn't heard of this company before. And now I know! Shady company. Do not do business with these smoke and mirrors theives

Bate and Switch for Solar Customers
Signed a 36 month solar buy back contract, only for them to switch the buyback from 1:1 to RTW. BTW, did I mention that the announcement of their change was a buried in the form of a general newsletter, so I missed the opportunity to switch to another company without penalty. Really sad that solar customers are being taken advantage of...this is nothing but greedy.
Hi KP - We want to make sure we are on the same page. Our Solar Buy Back terms and conditions are not associated to your Electricity Facts Label and plan. We did notify all Solar customers in a separate notice emailed on March 24th 2023. This notice stated that the following changes would go into effect on May 1, 2023:
1. Effective May 1 the buy back rate would match the real time energy rate at the 15 minute interval levels, capped at your energy charge.
2. We also included a concept of surge pricing where during times of peak demand, we will offer to buy back your electricity at higher multiples of your energy charge.
We understand these changes may not work for you therefore, you are free to switch to another provider without penalty before May 31, 2023.

Their energy buyback program is a scam!
I switched to Energy Texas because of the their solar electricity buy back program. As of 5/1/2023, they changed it from 7.8cents/kwh to 1.6cents/kwh --- literally robbing our solar credit. Totally scam! Phishing with bait!

If you saving up for points make sure your account stays opened cause if not if you submit your points and close account they won't give you nothing. Sorry company happy to take money and you do what they say to get points and all cause before you get the card you close account they not gonna give you your money

Incompetent
I wanted to go with Energy Texas as a result of the poor experience I've had with other utility providers. Energy Texas was completely incompetent. I was unable to transfer my service to them.
Hi Shuji. I can understand your frustration. It looks like your USPS address has a different address in ERCOT which is where the confusion came from with our Customer Care Representative. One of our Tier 2 Escalations Agents will be reaching out to you to resolve this problem. We hope you reconsider your position.

Disabled Veteran received rude and horrible service
As stated above i am a disabled combat veteran, who is on a pension and get paid at the first of every month. Energy texas bills on the 28th of every month and charges me a late fee every month. when i called to see if i could change the due date 4 days i was told no, no way, not happening.
when i explained my situation, i was told no again. when i asked if they were ok with continuing to charge me late fees, the answer was yes. this is a greed driven company who is not willing to change a due date , but are very willling to continue to make extra money off of disabled veterans or anyone who is on a pension and gets paid on the 1st of the month. when i asked about breaking the contract of course they want an extra $150 go figure. i have sent emails and no reply. Texas Veterans save your time and money and find a different company to do business with, even if it costs a little more.
Hi Chris - We appreciate your feedback and understand how that can be frustrating. We currently do not offer an option to pick your due date, but do offer a levelized billing option which may help your situation. One of our Customer Care agents will be in touch to help find a resolution!

Ripoff
I mailed my first payment on the 10th, and it was due on the 17th. On the 18th, I got an email from them saying my payment was late. I checked my bank and my check cleared on the 17th. I contacted them, and they said my payment was late because they didn't process it until the 18th. That is just plain BS, they had to have received my check before the due date in order for it clear. Got my next bill and they had charged me a late fee! This company's game plan is to rip people off.
Hi Sue - we understand that is frustrating. We recommend allowing 7-10 business days for checks to arrive in the mail, process through our vendor, and apply to your account. I have gone ahead and credited your account. You will see the credit applied to your next bill that generates. I hope that provides resolution and that apart from that hiccup, you enjoy being part of our herd!

Cheating company
Doubled my electric bill in the first month and then again the second month so I switched. Thinking of suing.
Terrible customer service
Requested change of service location when I moved. Received acknowledgment that service location was changed. Due to auto pay I never thought anymore about it until I received a bill for electrical service from my apartment management office. After review, I found that bill still showed old service location. Called customer service and they verified that they had not changed my service location but verified that they had told me the change had been made. I was told the new service location would be made tomorrow and that the payments I had made on service at my old location would be refunded. I asked and was told I would receive email confirmation of the change and the refund by the end of the day. I also requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that one would call me in a few minutes . End of the day came and no email acknowledgment received nor the requested call from a supervisor. Very disappointed in Energy Texas customer service!
If I could have given a zero I would have
I have had Energy Texas for 2 months. Both times the bill has been late for me to pay on time and they have conveniently "lost" one of my payments and shut of my power without warning. I told them they did not loose the payment because they cashed the check I have a copy of the deposited check. I just happened to come home for lunch to find the power out but it is over 100 degrees in June I could have come home to a dead pet. They clearly do not have it together. Would not recommend.
Nonsense
This is nonsense. Electricity was disconnected. I have been dealing with them (Energy Texas) since 6/6 to remove an early termination fee since I transferred my Services to a new address in May , I did not cancel. Spoke to someone on 6/6. She claimed to not have my initial address where I had service but finally found it as she wanted me to provide proof that I moved - this didnt make sense since I had service with them at both addresses. I received 2 more bills with different amounts with different due dates. I emailed them, waited for a response for 2 days, didnt here from anyone w and finally heard back after a 2nd email was sent. It was finally adjusted last week and I paid the bill right way. It wasnt even due until today. My electricity was cut off today. Centerline told me it was because of non pAyment and I needed to call Energy Texas. Energy Texas is now saying it was a transfer issue and that it why it was disconnected. I moved in May, why is this a transfer issue in June. This is just ridiculous.
Either broken system or scam
I tried to set up an account with them, only to be told they cannot verify my identity and I must pay an extra deposit. Checking the company they use, Experian, confirmed that there is no issues with my credit or account, but Energy Texas was unable or unwilling to address this in any way and continued to insist there was no issue, they can't troubleshoot or bypass, and they must receive the deposit.
Bad system or scam, you decide.

Don't look. Just run. Fancy website, terrible customer service, one-way communication, won't go the extra step to admit their wrongs. Signed a 3 year fixed solar plan with them earlier this year. Hi Jim- We did change our solar buy back terms and we notified you, as well as all of our solar buy back customers, on March 24th 2023 via email that these changes would take effect on May 1st. I understand that you state that you did not receive the email. One of our Customer Care Representatives will be reaching out to you to provide a resolution to your concerns.

We will have a representative reach out to you to discuss further. As always, we appreciate our customer's feedback.

Hi Charlene - Our rewards terms and conditions do state that in order to redeem rewards, you do need to be a current customer however, we are happy to review your account. One of our Customer Care Representatives will reach out to you by phone tomorrow.

Great Experience and a Great deal
Initially, I had a few questions when I signed up and the customer support really helped me. I was able to lock in a great rate.
Cheating company
Doubled my electric bill in the first month and then again the second month so I switched. Thinking of suing.
Too expenaive
Too expensive, Too expensive, Too expensive
Sign Up For Service
The sign up process for this service was fast and easy.
Steve
First bill wasn't recieved in time to pay on time ,haven't got second bill yet
So Far So Good
Customer service hours not compatible with other service providers. Wasn't told in advance of the good promo I was to receive.
Book Keeping
Disconnect notice on bill paid early..thought it crossed in mail but website the day before showed pd then We get another disconnect notice for March 22.....all paid by bank check online..
