Reliant's Base Power 12 plan is an easy to understand electricity Plan. It's a 12 month plan, or one year, so it has a $150 cancellation fee. The Energy Charge is actually pretty low, definitely competitive with the current market. The only interesting thing is that it has a monthly recurring charge that changes depending on usage. If a customer uses less than 1,000 kWh a month, the charge is $9.99. If they use more than 1k kWh in a month, the base monthly charge is $0.00. Not a bad plan.

Who should buy this plan

Who should buy Reliant's Basic Power 12 plan? Anyone in a medium to large home that uses a lot of electricity. A lot of smaller homes use less than 1,000 kWh a month during the winter months, but well over 1,000 kWh during the summer months. Anyone with a decent sized home and/or with a pool they heat year round would benefit from this plan.

It's not complicated, it has a relatively flat rate and low energy charge, so there aren't any big bill surprises month to month, and if you use more than 1,000 kWh a month your monthly recurring charge drops from $9.99 a month to $0.00 a month. It's a two year plan, so the cancellation charge if you leave your contract early is $295. The plan is made up of 20% renewable energy.
